Out of Our Heads

Many people, who come to therapy, spend a great deal of time reflecting on themselves and why they are the way they are.

In therapy, they are very committed and work hard at the process.

I used to spend a lot of time following these patient’s associations, interpreting their inner worlds.

However, I came to see, that although they were learning a great deal about themselves, and even making positive changes in their lives, there was a core aspect of their psyche that remained untouched.

I now try not to let their minds dominate the sessions. I try to move them into their bodies and their feelings.

In the next blog, we will explore the body as a medium for expression.
